This is a trainer's manual for a 3-day Remedial Learning Programme developed by QAED Punjab and DPD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with support from the FCDO and BTAG. The manual equips trainers to help teachers use diagnostic assessments, targeted interventions, and effective teaching strategies to address learning gaps in foundational literacy and numeracy.
Punjab's AI-driven classroom innovation, improved foundational learning by enabling teachers to tailor lessons using assessment data—doubling students at the highest proficiency levels from 52% to 69%. Gains in English, numeracy, and STEAM demonstrate scalable, cost-effective system seeding, inspiring broader provincial adoption.
Punjab's CPD framework enhanced teaching via digital modules, observations, and CoPs, training 3,000+ educators. High relevance (97%), improved skills and scores, plus partnerships and resources, supported sustainable professional growth and better student learning.
KP's CPD program strengthened elementary teaching through digital modules, observations, forums, and peer communities, reaching 3,700+ teachers, including women. Co-designed with government and embedded in quality assurance, it enabled sustainable mentoring and system-wide ownership.
Multigrade teaching can advance equitable quality education via inclusive practices, resource optimization, and teacher training. Adaptable pedagogies, community engagement, and policy reforms address diverse learner needs to improve outcomes in resource-limited contexts.
The Multigrade Teacher Support Programme in KP enhanced multigrade teaching through digital modules, observations, and forums. It trained nearly 12,000 teachers and 1,764 leaders, focusing on blended learning and support to improve management and tackle learning loss and dropout.
The remedial learning program improved English, Urdu, and Math scores by 7+ points, with teachers gaining confidence and valuing diagnostic tools. Despite time and resource challenges, plans for expansion and routine integration aim to sustain gains.
